Interactive conversations on mine safety for students of the Vyshniv Academic Lyceum
On May 6, 2025, on International Mine Safety Education Day, second and fifth grade students of the Vyshniv Academic Lyceum joined an important initiative. The non-governmental organization “League of Officers” held interactive discussions for schoolchildren, the purpose of which was to teach children how to behave correctly when detecting dangerous objects.
Due to the full-scale war in Ukraine, a significant part of the country's territory is contaminated with dangerous objects. Children, who are often curious and unaware, can become victims of mines or unexploded shells. Therefore, mine safety education is vital knowledge for every young Ukrainian.
Specialists from the “League of Officers” told the students in an accessible way:
- What dangerous objects look like (mines, grenades, shells, etc.).
- What to do if such an object is found (do not approach, do not touch, move to a safe distance and inform adults).
- What signs warn of mine danger?
- What to do in the event of an explosion or emergency.
Game elements, visualization, and practical situations were used to better assimilate the material. Children actively participated in the conversation, asked questions, and demonstrated their existing safety knowledge.
Such meetings help preserve the lives and health of children in wartime. The “League of Officers” continues its educational work, and the Vyshniv Academic Lyceum is one of those educational institutions where the safety of students is a priority.
