On August 1, 2026, servicemen of the River Flotilla and veterans of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine took part in the celebrations dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the operational-tactical exercises “Sea-96”.

The commemoration of the memorable date began with the solemn raising of the Naval Flag at the burial place of Vice Admiral Volodymyr Bezkorovaynyi, Commander of the Ukrainian Navy in the period 1993–1996. During the rally dedicated to this event, the participants of the event emphasized the special importance of these exercises in the formation and development of the national military fleet. The event ended with a minute of silence in honor of the fallen heroes of the Russian-Ukrainian war and a ceremony of laying flowers at the grave of Vice Admiral Bezkorovaynyi V. G.

Let us recall that the operational-tactical exercises “Sea-96” were held from July 29 to August 1, 1996 under the banner Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. For the first time in the modern history of the military fleet, they clearly demonstrated the practical ability of the Ukrainian Navy to protect national interests from the sea. The exercises were conducted at the initiative of the then Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine - Commander of the Ukrainian Navy, Vice Admiral  Bezkorovaynyi V. G.
