Fighters and commanders of the Tsunami assault regiment and the Dnipro-1 fire support regiment of the Lut Joint Assault Brigade of the National Police of Ukraine underwent psychological training organized by psychologist-instructors of the League of Officers Public Organization.

The training took place within the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation with the Special Purpose Police Department "Joint Assault Brigade of the National Police of Ukraine "Lyut"" and within the framework of the NATO Comprehensive Assistance Package to Ukraine for employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine who are involved in performing combat missions.

What did the fighters learn?

Psychologists-instructors focused the special forces' attention on developing self-control skills, stress resistance, and maintaining psychological balance in conditions of increased workload. During the classes, the fighters learned about:

  • mental health and the impact of traumatic events in combat conditions;
  • the impact of stress reactions on the social, cognitive, emotional and physiological spheres of life;
  • preventing the occurrence of post-traumatic syndrome;
  • providing psychological assistance to comrades and self-help in combat and during the performance of combat and special missions;
  • restoring a normal psycho-emotional state, working with stress, anxiety and aggression.

In addition to theoretical knowledge, participants practiced practical skills in providing psychological assistance and self-help in combat conditions in accordance with recognized international practices and protocols.

Separate classes for commanders

Psychologists-instructors conducted separate sessions with unit commanders, the purpose of which was to teach officers to help personnel restore psychological stability in combat conditions and use internal resources to overcome crisis situations.

Feedback and thanks

Upon completion of the series of classes, the commander of the Tsunami assault regiment, police lieutenant colonel Maksym Tsurkan, thanked the trainers of the NGO "League of Officers". He noted that such trainings help soldiers recover more easily after completing combat missions, especially in conditions when the unit suffers losses. The moral and psychological recovery of soldiers during intense combat operations is the key to further high-quality completion of assigned tasks and holding positions by the regiment's units.

The regiment commander presented representatives of the public organization with a Certificate of Gratitude from the Tsunami Assault Regiment and talked with the soldiers, learning about the pressing problems that concern the personnel.

The strength of a special forces soldier lies not only in physical endurance, but also in psychological resilience. Being psychologically prepared means acting confidently when it is most needed.

Let's keep our formation!
